The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six-seven” – originating from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
