The former Liverpool manager states a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won England's top flight under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I will never coach any other side within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, so I might decide in a few years, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, praising him for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The forward lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is difficult. Impossible.”
