Supporters Demand Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are calling for that a man who jumped a barricade and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the Australian man bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was due to appear on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the popular stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely friendship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored a dozen Academy Award nods, winning several for outstanding attire and production design.
