Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The purpose of the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, police said.
Details of the Attack
Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location close to the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the building overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," authorities stated.
CCTV footage reportedly depicted a individual with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.
