Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Thick black smoke was observed billowing near an area proximate to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
