Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Gives Patriots Path to AFC East Lead - Best of Week 10 NFL Action

Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many people into the National Football League
That result may have opened things up for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs last week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the league's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Containing the league's best running game was crucial too, with Cook and teammates registering just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute drive yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a varied performances this year so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the Patriots, they're one of three different eight and two teams in the NFL, all AFC sides, but could they be the best?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for dominating the weaker opponents, with just five of their total 24 victories achieved against teams with a positive record - and one example was the Colts beating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Buffalo appears to be a statement
Their two defeats occurred in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to the Broncos, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was huge
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves credit for bravery after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to victory
The defensive unit is solid and first-year running back Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to break 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is statistically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but face the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the five and four Jaguars to face. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Showdown
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Los Angeles, who both put up 40 burgers to go to 7-2 before next week's major meeting between the two in LA
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defenses giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Each could realistically be without a loss as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick blocked and returned by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the final play of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely among the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - running for 244 rushing yards, scoring three scores and contributing another forty-two {receiving yards
