Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
